Sun-Day Poem for the Yogini

Sunday Laurel Canyon Farmer’s Market
I stopped
to listen to you
talk about
free yoga
a nearby studio
and parted
with a compliment
“you’re very beautiful,” which,
on parting,
seemed wholly inadequate
thus this poem.

Energy
streams off you
in waves of orange
rippling
electric.

Your smile
radiant
as the sun
my skin
warms to its touch.

Your freckles
a million
sun kisses
strewn about your body
like spring
wildflowers
in a vast meadow

Your body
fresh
alive and moving
as if
to begin a dance
you are connected
to all of it
touching
all of it
feeling
all of everything
like heartburst
quenched thirst.
